Slade  music press articles 1972 1973Having slogged around the ballroom circuit building up a loyal and fervent following, Slade were about to make 1972 their year. Chart success including the #1 Pan European hit 'Coz I Luv You'in 1971 paved the way.

The band had recorded their brilliant Live album in 1971 and that was to be released and enjoy chart success throughout 1972.The year would also see the band notch up two more #1 singles in 'Take Me Bak Ome' and the anthemic 'Mama Weer All Crazee Now' as well as more chart success with both 'Look Wot U Dun' and 'Gudbuy T Jane'

They were to wow the crowd at the Lincoln Festival and Chris Charlesworth, champion of the band at the Melody Maker, would pen the sleeve notes on the seminal iconic LP 'Slayed?'
